WER WIR SIND... / WHO WE ARE...

Angela Hoffmann, geb. 1966 und Martin Hoffmann, geb. 1970 aus Wien.

Angela ist selbstständige Kosmetikerin bei Pure Beauty Cosmetic und Martin arbeitet in der Strafvollzugsakademie in Wien. Zudem ist er aktiv als Präsident für Österreich im Verein ´Internationale Police Association´. Ihre Hochzeitsreise führte sie 2018 wieder nach Fidschi und gemeinsam erlebten sie die wunderbare fidschianische Kultur.

Von 1995 – 2007 leitete Angela dort das Maravu Plantation Resort auf Taveuni. Und seit dem liebt sie die Inseln. Fidschianer gelten als die freundlichsten Menschen auf dem Planeten.

Leider bekommen sie den Klimawandel und die wirtschaftlichen Konsequenzen der COVID-19-Pandemie zu spüren. Die Armut steigt. Kein Tourismus seit März 2020. Weniger Jobs, kein Einkommen…

Im September 2020 wurde die Idee geboren, mithilfe von aktiven, ehrenamtlichen Freunden auf der Insel, direkt zu helfen. Gesagt, getan. Ein Telefonat, ein paar Emails hin und her, die erste PayPal Überweisung, die erste Spende, Fotos von glücklichen Schulkindern und gesunden Mahlzeiten, alles bereitgestellt von ehrenamtlichen Helfern.

Es bereitete uns große Freude, diesen Verein ins Leben zu rufen, weil wir sicherstellen können, dass die Hilfe direkt vor Ort ankommt. Wir sind so dankbar für unsere Gesundheit, unseren Wohlstand, unser Glück. Deshalb möchten wir helfen. Wir alle teilen uns gemeinsam denselben Planeten. Wir sind alle gleich wertvoll.

Wenn wir diese Kinder jetzt unterstützen mit einer guten Schulbildung ins Leben zu starten, können uns diese Menschen später helfen, mit den Problemen des Klimawandels umzugehen.

 

Angela, born in Germany 1966 and Martin Hoffmann, born 1970 in Austria, live in Vienna.  

Angela is the owner of Pure Beauty Cosmetic and Martin works in the Austrian Prison Service Academy. He also is acting President for the ´International Police Association Austria´. They visited Fiji on their honeymoon in 2018 and fell in love with the culture and the people who are famous for being the friendliest people on the planet.

Angela has been lucky to have spent time in Fiji in the past: from 1995 – 2007 she was the Managing Director of the Maravu Plantation Resort on Taveuni, and she is still in touch with Fijian friends and their famillies.  

Unfortunately, more and more children on the islands now suffer from poverty and are unable to attend school because their parents cannot afford to provide a packed lunch for them.  The islanders have to deal with the effects of the climate change. In addition, they are struggling with the devastating impact of the Covid19 pandemic. There has been no tourism since March 2020, which means there are no jobs, resulting in no income. Third world problems…

The idea to help directly, rather than through a large organisation, and to initiate projects, was born in September 2020. With the fantastic help from friends in Fiji, who act on a voluntary basis, it only took one initial phone call and a few texts until the first donation was wired. It is a great joy and honour to be able to bring this project to life, one step at a time.  

If we help the neediest of children, to ensure they get a good meal in school, enabling them to learn better and increase their chances for a good education, we help to raise the next generation to deal with the future of our planet.  We are all equal and worth the same.
